I have gone back to Uni!!!! Yes I must be mad, with my house, kids, part time job AND illustration commissions I decided to go back to Uni & do Fine Art degree.
Why?
Have always wanted to do it, would like to pass, go to Teacher Training maybe teach later on.
Loving it though, it's hard work but great fun.
My work style for my commissions is the same but the stuff I do at college is all different.
Will post a few bits and bobs.
May keep this as a diary as part of my course work...dunno yet.

Missed the Angels & Devils post so have incorporated this post with that one. Love this drawing it was a commission for a very good friend of her new baby nephew and it looks so like him, she calls him her little angel hence the wings.

Windygust is the name of a fat gnome in a book I am writing & illustrating. Hope you like him. It's a long process and is taking me such a long time to complete this project but I'm not giving up on it.

This was a portrait commission that I did last month, the client wanted her portrait in the style of a Masai Princess but not keeping too much to the exact Masai culture. She gave me a plain photograph of herself and I did some research for the headress and accesories. This was what I came up with, it was lovely to draw and she seemed to love it.

As I still cant scan anything, this too is a bit of an oldy. Painted this picture of Angus Young from the band AC/DC onto the pillion of a motorbike. It is kind monsterlike. Hope you all like it.

My scanner is broke, boohoo!!! I have had a crappy few weeks and cant scan any work in, but this week I find I have an old piece that fits...feet!!
Many years old, sorry but at least I'm still included this week, wahey!!

Had trouble thinking of a simple subject matter, then I thought there is nothing much simpler than a child. My sons love their chalkboard so I drew my nephew for them onto their chalkboard, back to basics with subject & materials, really simple!

This is an acrylic painting that I did not too long ago just to try & get back into painting, it was from a photo I had seen in a magazine years ago and cut out as I liked the image. It is a huge painting, about 2m high, you cant tell that obviously.Was quite proud of it and then my window cleaner saw it on my easel through the glass and bought it off me as he loved it. Cool!

Glamour

I always think of 1940's-1950's movie stars when I think of glamour. You know the thing, real old fashioned glamour that you just dont see much any more. This is a portrait of one of those hollywood actresses, just dont ask me which one as I drew her a few years ago so I cant remember, any of you who recognise her, i'd like to be reminded who she is.

Been away for the holidays and so haven't had a chance to post until now. Did this pastel drawing at 1am this morning. I was going to do a mermaid as I love all things mythical but decided as it was so late, to do a portrait (as usual, sorry no imagination at the mo) as that is what I can do quickest. I think of her more as a Sea Witch than a mermaid though.

Being a scouser I had to draw John Lennon for this theme, I grew up in a house that his best mate lived in so we used to laugh that John Lennon had used our loo! The Beatles tourist bus used to stop outside for people to take photo's, very strange.

I have been painting & selling miniature dolls house paintings online for a while and as they are all 'small' I thought I would show one as I haven't had time to draw anything appropriate, hope this is ok.

new drawing this time, based on a lost soul rather than a lost walker , struggled thinking of a theme with this word but hope i have conveyed a feeling of lost. The scanned picture didn't come out as well as I would have liked as you cant see the dictionary definition text of lost very well in the background.
